This sign reminds me of my life at the moment. The footpath that I want to take is a career in dentistry, but for now, I have to use the longer, more inconvenient path to get there. But actually, the other path might turn out to be more of a scenic route, rather than a mere detour, as the papers I have decided to take in lieu of dentistry really interest me. In fact, I'm quite at ease at being interupted by this road block, as it means I get to experience something a bit different, walk off the beaten track as it were. For example, I have always wanted to do a theatre arts paper at university level, and this is the first time that I actually get a chance to do so, and after a year of sciences, I am really looking forward to it. Ditto for my ethics and health paper (even though I have to meet up with Patricia Priest again ... bring it on). And eventually, if all goes to plan, the longer path I have to travel will lead me to the same place as the other one, even though inevitably there will be other roadblocks I will have to deal with along the way. But hey! I'm open to change.
Enter cheesy cliche "Success is a journey, not a destination." Unknown.
I'm not sure that success is the right word to use here, but oh well, it fits in with the theme, and it could easily be substituted for something just as philosphical, like life or happiness or something.
